Water Volleyball Club

The Trilogy water volleyball Club is an informal recreational water volleyball group that plays at the indoor pool Mondays, Wednesdays, And Fridays.   Being an informal group, there are no costs to be included in the group and all TRILOGY members and their guests are always welcomed. Play is relaxed, enjoyable, exciting and comical at times.

We play in the indoor section of the pool and it is heated.  We also have a curtain extension on the open end of the pool that meets the water and keeps the cool air out in the cooler winter months.  This makes playing during the winter months very comfortable. Bring a friend and enjoy the evening.

If you have any questions or know of someone that would like to be added to or removed from our Club roster list, feel free to contact us at one of the numbers or email addresses below.

The modified Volleyball rules we use are listed below.

1.   PLAY SCHEDULE

  1. Play is Monday, Wednesday and Friday and evenings 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

 2.    EQUIPMENT

  1.  A Softer and smaller than a normal ball is used.
  2. The backline of the court is defined by orange ropes with buoys that are anchored at each end with orange buckets.  The ropes are pulled across the two ends of the pool. The side lines are defined by the “shelf” in the pool.
  3.  A Short Court will be defined by moving the back lines in, thus shortening the court. The short court is used when 4 or less players per side are playing.

3.   RULES

  General

  1. Games are played to 15 points and the winning team must win by a 2-point margin.  If the score is tied or the serving team is ahead by only one point, play continues until one team is ahead by 2 points.
  2. If the serving side wins the volley, they score 1 point.  You can only score points when your side serves the ball.
  3. A player will serve to the opponent until the serving side losses the volley.  The serve then moves to the opposite side.  The team that just won the volley will rotate 1 position such that all players on the team eventually serv the ball.
  4. Play will commence on the full court when 5 or more players per side are playing.
  5. Special team rotation instructions.
  6. Any time an odd number of players are present, the team with the odd number will sit out a player. When the team rotates players (by winning the service), the previous server rotates out of play and the odd player comes on the court in the position the server would have normally moved to.
  7. When more than 8 players per side are available to play, the court will be filled until they have 8 on 8 playing.  All remaining players will be divided, and half will go to each side.  They will rotate in on both sides as outlined above.

 Service requirements.

  1. All servers must pass on an arch at least 2 feet above the net and to an opposing player.
  2. The ball can be hit or thrown over the net to begin play.
  3. If the ball touches the net on the serve AND falls in the opponent’s side, the sever gets a second serve.
  4. Serves that are hit out of bounds or do not clear the net and fall in the server’s side are faults and the service goes to the opponent’s side.

   Play

  1. There are an unlimited number of hits allowed on a side before the ball is returned.
  2. There are also an unlimited number of consecutive hits allowed by one player before the ball is returned to the other side, but a player can not set themselves up for a dink  using consecutive hits.(if a ball is illegally dinked, it will be reserved)
  3. Touching the net is NEVER allowed.
  4. Spiking the ball is not allowed during recreational play.
    1. (The receiving team determines if a ball was spiked.)  The ball will be re-served.
  5. Except for serves, the ball must be HIT.  "Catch and throw" during play is not allowed.
  6. Any ball hitting the rope or the buoy is considered in bounds.  Balls landing on OR hitting the “shelf” on the side of the pool is considered out of bounds.
  7. Orange buckets are used to anchor the lines, any ball hitting the bucket, the ladder or the water between the ladder sides is considered out of bound
